Denta Crowns and Veneers

Dental crowns - Dental crowns are basically false teeth, well a false tooth more than often. A crown is a material shaped to look exactly like a tooth and is placed of a damaged tooth, this having been filed to a smaller size previously to fit the crown.

Crowns can be used for cosmetic or repair. If the nerve dies in the tooth it can turn black and cannot be whitened therefore needing a better solution. The tooth is ground down by the dentist with a drill, it's not painful, and then the crown is permanently stuck onto the ground down tooth.

Crowns can be made of several materials, the most used being porcelain, gold or silver. Gold and silver are generally used for molars as they are out of sight whilst porcelain is used for front teeth. Porcelain crowns can be perfectly matched to the tooth's natural color and look indistinguishable.

Veneers
Veneers are another permanent solution to unsightly teeth. A porcelain veneer is a thin sheet of porcelain placed on the front of the tooth hiding the old tooth and appearing like a brand new tooth. The procedure is not painful and takes about 3 surgery visits.
